Nova Arc Content Co.—a Boston-based company that writes, edits, and proofreads technical, creative, events, and marketing content—has been certified as a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) with the City of Boston’s Supplier Diversity Program.
The certification, granted Nov. 20, 2025, will let Nova Arc finalize the Small Business Administration–directed Women-Owned Small Business certification. Prospective Woman-Owned Small Business program participants must apply for certification; be a small business based on SBA size standards; be at least 51% owned and controlled by women who are U.S.citizens; have women manage day-to-day operations and make long-term decisions; and fit the program’s thresholds for net worth and personal assets.
Heather E. Saunders co-founded Nova Arc in 2022 and serves as its chief executive officer. She has more than 17 years of experience as a technical editor, writer, and proofreader specializing in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medical businesses. She’s also president of ACES: The Society for Editing, one of the largest associations serving editors in businesses including media; book publishing; and marketing, advertising, and public relations.
“It’s an honor, pleasure, and awesome responsibility to lead this team and this company, and to do so proudly and visibly as a woman,” Saunders said. “STEM, aerospace, and defense benefit when diverse perspectives are included—in the lab, in copy, in discussions, and in the boardroom.” Saunders said.
In 2025, Nova Arc supported the 2025 Aerospace and Defense Summit, did projects supporting cybersecurity and national security contractors; and edited, proofread, and made recommendations for the City of Boston’s annual Budget Book. Other projects served business in electronics and computing; power supplies; pharmaceuticals and health care; aerospace; and civic groups.
